Abercrombie
Hey there! I've tried to install uphuck 1.3 on a SATA-only system. No success: a blinking cursor after the restart. It's a ASRock 775i945GZ board and a WD SATA HD. Are there any tricks to install it? Maybe with a Ubuntu+grub? Anybody has succeded installing it OSX86 on SATA? rdougan
Probably nothing to do with the SATA. What cpu do you have? If its dual core try pressing F8 and typing "-x -v cpus=2", without quotes. Also try cpus=1 if 2 doesn't work. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57926-installation-on-sata-any-tricks/#findComment-413650 Share on other sites
Abercrombie
It's a Pentium D 925. I'll give it a try! EDIT: Actually I'm not able to press F8 and enter something. I guess to bootloader can't be found... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57926-installation-on-sata-any-tricks/#findComment-413661 Share on other sites

How exactly did you go about formatting your hard drive for installation? Abercrombie
I used the disk utils: Selected the hardisk, entered a name (for OSX journald) and clicked delete. No other partition or anything else. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57926-installation-on-sata-any-tricks/#findComment-413683 Share on other sites

Abercrombie
I can't find AHCI in my BIOS.... I've tried JaS and Tubgirl as well: same result. Ubuntu is on it's way... Charbucks
I had trouble with SATA too, until I messed around with the bios. Try mucking with the settings - I found that on mine, it was the Promise RAID controller that was the culprit, and everything worked after I disabled it (I don't have a RAID setup anyway so it doesn't matter). Also, make sure that your drive with OSX86 is the primary hard drive, if you have more than one.
