I'm running 10.4.8 on a P5LD2-VM (2gb memory, Celeron D, OS installed on PATA drive) and every once in a while I get messages saying I need to restart. The only thing I can think of to cause it is that it generally happens after I leave the computer a while. (I have sleep disabled because the system restarts on wake. I tried the ACPI speedstep patch, but it didn't work.)

Any clue?

Current settings:

Suspend Mode: Auto

Repost Video on S3 Resume: Disabled

ACPI 2.0 Support: No

ACPI APIC Support: Enabled

Alrighty... I changed the settings to those in the P5LD2-VM guide here (basically ACPI 2.0 support to Yes). Sleep still didn't work, so I installed the ACPI Throttler. STILL doesn't work, but no error message like last time i installed it. I dunno about random restarts... I'll have to give that some time.

Thanks, btw, for all the help.

I have this same problem. Im using the darwin 8.8.1 kernel with the JaS 10.4.8 release on a pata drive. I have an abit IL9 pro, pentium D 930, 2 GB ddr2 ram, a geforce 7300 GS "oc", and I also have a sata drive attached.

I tried looking in my BIOS for something about the sleeping and I didnt find much of anything besides changing it from s3 to s1

Sorry, although i've dabbled here and there with mac os, I really am as novice as they come.

I upgraded using the JaS combo update to 10.4.9, I'll let you know if I get any more of the screens... I assume that i probably will

EDIT: yea it still makes me restart every few hours

Hmmm... interestingly, it seems to not do it if i never turn off my monitor. Not sure if this is true or just seems to be. Will report when I know more.

If you look at other topics, you will see other people suffering the same problem :

i tried 2 graphic cards asus ati x1600 512 mb + asus geforce 7600gs 256 mb, and changed motherboard from intel945gpm to asus p5b-e, still the random restart screens remains at about 5 to 10 hours after restarting mac os 10.4.10 or 10.4.9, the cpu doesn't get hot, and i have two pcs with the same configuration and the same problem, if there is any solution out there, let us know please, thanks.
