Knacker
I want to make a hackintosh to be a file sharing server to my network. The reason I want it to be a Mac is because there are a lot of directory hierarchies I can't back up to my windows server because they contain characters that a re illegal in windows; Rather than go through and take all of them out, I'd rather just have a mac as a file server. I know I can't expect SATA to work right out of the box on any motherboard I may choose, so I was wondering if a PCI or PCI-E solution with RAID might exist. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd like to have some reports on how a RAID device might work before I buy one myself, because I'm kind of worried that the Macintosh's interface with it might rely on EFI or some other such platform specific nonsense.
