Many apologies if this has been posted...searched and found many different issues, most indicated recieving the error message at first boot and in VMware. I'm doing a full native install with Uphucks version 1.3. on a Dell 700m. Install goes great, I choose packages (althought not sure if i need to choose SSE2 or SSE3), after the install finishes I recieve this message:

System config file '/com.apple.boot.plist' not found

If I remove the DVD disk all I get is a blinking cursor? If I leave the drive in are there any commands I can type in to bypass this message? I've read that people are recommending USB DVD drives, but if the install disk reads just fine during the install, i'm wondering why it's not seeing it after? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just thought of something else...if you could recommend a version that works well with the Dell 700m. I've installed it before using a different version but at the moment can't remember which one. All I can remember is that is was 10.4.3 so wanted to take advantage of any of the newer versions.

I had the same problem with my laptop, what I did was format the drive using a version of OSx86 by Jas, version 10.4.7 after formating the drive with the Jas DVD, I exited out of the install, rebooted the laptop and placed UpHacks DVD and after doing the install, the laptop booted properly.

This helped me out on Myzar 10.4.8.

Thanks go to Frizbot. :D

Bumps are annoying me.

Make sure the drive is partitioned using the Master Boot Record partition map. In Disk Utility, it is an advanced option when partitioning. I've seen the Boot.plist error happen after using the Apple Partition Map instead.

JaS' 10.4.8 is a classic IMHO, a very reliable system.
