Hi all,

I've prviously successfully installed JaS 10.6 and later his 10.7 updates (I assume they are all based on the kernel in 10.4). When trying to install JaS 10.8 (any version) and now the Uphuck v1.3, it fails during install boot (after swicth to graphics mode, but prior to language selection - the exception information says it is in the CD language project it fails) with an exceptioon in ImageIO.framework. Trying to disable AGP in the BIOS had no effect, nor did connecting an external monitor. But, when changing the screen resolution using the "Graphics Mode" on the boot command line to "1280x1024x16" or "1600x1200x16" and using an external monitor, the bootup no longer crashes like this. Unfortunately it then just hangs with the spinning wheel on the blue background without coming up with the language selection menu. Mouse movement and caps lock still works.

I am attempting to install from an USB DVD - an approach that succeded on JaS 10.4.6. The graphics adapter on my X31 is ATI Radeon 7500 reported by the kernel as being VESA 2.0 compliant and having 15MB memory. The native LCD resolution is 1024x768 which is also the default resolution with external monitor. Any tips? Note that this problem started with the 10.8 based releases, while the 10.4 based ones all install and work reasonably well.

grateful for any help,

Hi,

i'm sorry i can't help you but i can just say that i'm using a X31 with jas 10.4.8 and after some work everything works BUT the graphic card, i can't have QE enabled, while osX86 wiki sayz "hinkPad X31

use Jas10.4.8.SSE2.SSE3.Intel.AMD.PPF1.PPF2.iso"

Working - Video(ATI Mobility Radeon M6) - works with QE/OpenGL/AGP GART, need to delete the original ATI kexts/OpenGL Framework, obtain Radeon 7500 Pack, overwrite original Callisto Framebuffer Drivers with files from version b06, then move all kexts/OpenGL.frameworks into place"

Would you let me know if you had the graphic card working good?

thanks!
