Hi all,

i tried to get osx working natively on my machine:

AMD 64 3000+ (Venice)

AS Rock 939 Board with ALI chipset

1 GB Dual Channel RAM

however i just get it to run in VMWare which doesn't exactly satisfy me... Since I just can't get it to work natively i thought of maybe the chipset being the problem... Has anybody successfully installed osx natively on a amd 64 machine with ALI chipset?

If yes: how?

If no: buy a new mainboard? is osx86 worth it? i love osx on my powerbook but i'm not sure whether the osx86 "beta" is worth buying a new mainboard...

thx!

I'll wait for the no-beta release.

I also have a PowerBook, so using OSX86 is just for the fun right now, but surely when the Graphic Card works at full capacity and the programs I use most be in Intel or Universal Binaries you bet I use OSX86.

Did you try using the AppleGenericATA with your chipset?

yeah just 5 min ago...

it boots until i get a blue screen with the mouse cursor, then nothing for 10 min... i assume it stalls while loading the log in menu...

seems i'll have to wait for a more final release before i can run osx natively on my x86

ok today i tried booting it again:

i booted with -x -v it stalls a long time on:

[...] localhhost mDNSResponder: mDNSPlatformSendUDP sento failed to send packet on InterfaceID 0180860 lo0/0 to 224 [...] skt 9 error 65 (no route to host) 1642277454 [...]

and then after about 8 minutes loads the gui but then it seems to freeze (i waited 15 min if it would finally boot the logon)

same if i just use the bootflag -v alone, so no safe mode...

got an idea?
