Vosster
Hello. Are these parts compatible with the JAS 10.4.8 installation? Mainboard: Manufacturer: MSI Model: MS-7294 Chipset: Intel i945P CPU: Name: Intel Pentium D 830 Package: Socket 775 LGA Speed: 3,0 GHz Graphic Card Nvidia Geforce 6700 XL I think these parts are not listed in the compatibility lists. I hope someone can help me. Thank you. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57068-is-my-system-compatible/ Share on other sites
BJMoose
The 945 chipset should be extemely compatible as is the Pentium D processor. Not certain about that gfx card, it's worth a try though. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57068-is-my-system-compatible/#findComment-407706 Share on other sites
Vosster
Thanks. Nice to read that. The Graphic Card is a special version of Nvidia build unexeptional for the computers sold by "Medion". I hope the compatibility specifications are similar to the 6600 or 6800 chipsets which should make no problems according to the wiki. vbetts
Well, it depends on the chip. Weather or not it's the 6600 core, or the 6800 core..... You can try drivers for either for either of the two, and see what you get. That's the only definate way to check what the actual card is. If it's a 6600, then it's probably just an overlocked version of it rebranded with the name 6700. If it's the 6800, then it's probably underclocked so it doesn't let off as much heat, or take some much power under load. Which I honestly can't see that happening. Guest Ramm
You could always just attempt it using Natit or Titan. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/57068-is-my-system-compatible/#findComment-407785 Share on other sites

Vosster
Well, after two mounth my JAS 10.4.8 system is still running perfect. It took me some time to figure out how to handle it right. I wasn't aware of simple things which are causing massive problems like the standby function or careless updating to 10.4.10 with the apple updater. The first download of the JAS image was bugged. The system was instable and I had to install the titan.kext and other things after the installation. I had none of these problems with another version of the image. I installed OSX on a separate harddisk while running my old windows system on another. I found the chain0 file in the internet ,placed it on the windows disk and configured the standart windows bootmanager. Works well for me. My next computer won't be built by apple. Since they are using intel cpus you get accually the same if you buy a pc for less money which is running OSx86. That's only my opinion. Many thanks to all the people in this forum for offering their knowledge and for helping me.
