Hi there

i read some stuff here already i know it seems a little bit strange.

I tell you my story first so maybe you will understand.

I am running logic pro on my G5 2,3 Dualcore.

But even on this maschine i run into cpu trouble,so my idea is to use my old pc to help me out

I want to use Logics nude option so i need to get osx running on my pc.

i dont care too much about other applications since i have "a real mac"

the system is a p4 running at 3.2ghz and a ati 9600tx.

http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherb.../845/P4SGA+.cfm

Thats the mainboard as you can see it got intel 845 chipset

so please let me know if this ios possible und wich verion of osx i should use, it would help me out for the next year till i can afford to build my quad hackintosh.

tnx alex :boxing:

Northwood core is sse2 if I remember right for socket 478.... It should work, but don't expect as much as performance from an sse3 cpu, like a p4, or a core 2 duo.

one of my HacOSX86 boxes is a dell 360 with a P4 2.2ghz socket 478. it is "usable". but no speed demon for sure.

10.4.8 only. (so far?) due to lack of ss3.

JuVi

I had OSX working on a P4 nordwood 2,6 (800fsb) on a 865 chipset, and a nVidia FX5200... It works OK but actually Logic (express) used to crash a lot due the lack of SSE3 instructions I guess. You could try buy a second hand P4 prescott (socket 478, SSE3).....

The problem is my mainboard does not support fsb 800 so no chanche of using a prescott (since the board and the cpu cost as much as a c2duo system would cost.....*g*

I just want to run it as a node for my apple and ist ist a P4 2.6 running at 3.2GHZ so it should be enogh at least to take over a few plugins.... since also the memory ist overclocked the performance is ok for a single core....

I will upgrade to a quad sooner or later but for now i dont want to spend more money since the music equippment is already expensive as hell......

so should i stick with jas 10.8 or later or soonner versions???

Thanx for your already given answeres

Hmmmm i tried it yesterday the installation works so far but after the first reboot the screen turns

black and nothing hapens....

Could it be that my 9600tx is not rekognized???

does anybody have a clue what to trie next?

i installed jas 10.8

sould i maybe trie it with the onboard graphic card?

install without any selection on Most Common Hardwares & Titan nVida/ATI options., 10.4.8 will auto detect it with default drivers.

(take note, no games for 10.4.8 using 9600 series. coz i'm a 9600 user on 10.4.8 too)

hope this helps

You might try safe booting and removing all the GeForce, ATI, and NV extensions. This worked on an old socket 478 Gateway computer I have here.

#Steps:

Power Up and Press F8

-s

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw /

#Backup Extension Files:

mkdir /Backup

cp -R /system/library/extensions/ATI* /Backup

cp -R /system/library/extensions/GeF* /Backup

cp -R /system/library/extensions/NV* /Backup

#Remove from Extensions Folder:

rm -rf /system/library/extensions/ATI*

rm -rf /system/library/extensions/GeF*

rm -rf /system/library/extensions/NV*

#Remove Extensions Cache Files:

rm /system/library/Extensions.*

#Restart the machine:

reboot

Good Luck
