DeQuevedem Posted July 12, 2007 Share Posted July 12, 2007 Hi I have been running 10.4.10 ( clean update from JaS 10.4.8 sse3 intel only) perfectly on a PC a friend gave to me. The CPU is an 478 p4 hyperthreading, ss3 at 3,2 ghz ( reported as double core p4 3,6 ghz on OSX ).The Mobbo is Gigabyte 8i1000pe fi which is intel 865PE, an its specs are (from web) Supports 800MHz FSB Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology New generation Dual Channel DDR400 architecture Integrated Serial-ATA interface Supports AGP 8X interface for higher graphics performance Provides 8 USB 2.0 ports for high-speed connectivity Integrated high quality 6-channel AC'97 audio with Jack-Sensing and 2 gb of ddr400 ram. Everything is working well, the usb 2.0, ethernet, sound, sata and even the sleep ability. The box come to me with a 5700ve installed, so I used natit instalator in order to get it working, and indeed, once installed, there are a hell of selectable resolutions and QE/Ci are reported to work. The system is going but some graphics are extremely slow, as in example the dock´s magnification, the image selecting on the image preview, hell even opening a png is not that fast.. if you open a few windows the system starts to feel heavy. Its possible that the card is still working with the vesa3 driver but reporting QE/Ci? On the other hand i tried an 9600 pro i had at home. Its reported as QE/Ci out of the box (i installed NO driver for ati), but i have some strange troubles like garbage on videos, mouse tearing and, hey, the virtuedesktop transitions effects are non displayed!Ironically, the dock magnification works damn fast as well as other desktop effects that were slow with the 5700ve. Any hints to get anyone of the two card fully working on my system? I can post any info more, or sreenshots, you could want Thank you in advance PS: Only want to add 2 things: - I have already used the search function with no luck. Seems that ppl have 5700ve working flawlessly on his systems. -I have just read, if i have understood well, that toast 8 doesnt work on systems without QE/Ci. Mine does, but the toast 8 menu system is EXTREMELY slow.
