Macnoobz
Hi All, I'm very new to all this and would like to install Mac OS X 10.4.8 to my current PC. Meanwhile i'm downloading <Mac OS X 10.4.8 JAS AMD-INTEL SSE2 SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2> ISO file. My questions to all expertise here as follows; 1. Will my socket 478 CPU Northwood P4 2.54GHz SSE2 current hardwares support Mac OS X 10.4.8? 2. Is there a universal driver or filename <viarhine.tar.gz> from http://www.pinxue.net/mac/viarhine.html works for my onboard VIA LAN Ethernet VT6103? 3. Will <Natit_Uni_1.0.pkg> works on my ATI 9600XT 256MB display card? TIA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56811-question-on-mac-os-x-1048-jas/ Share on other sites
thestevo
As far as I know you are good on all counts. The CPU and the LAN I know for sure, but I think the ATI is good too. Guest Ramm
Do NOT use Natit for your 9600XT. Use Callisto. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56811-question-on-mac-os-x-1048-jas/#findComment-407129 Share on other sites
Macnoobz
Do NOT use Natit for your 9600XT. Use Callisto. @ Ramm, thanks for replied. FYI, i have installed twice on my machine but no display after Apple boot logo..black screen which i believed display driver issue. During my 2nd installation, i checked under system profiler and found this; Bus: PCIVRAM: 256MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4150 Rev ID: 0x0000 Kenel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded 1. Which Callisto should i use for 10.4.8 JAS? 2. How do i install the package upon my installation of 10.4.8 JAS? Also i have tried using method from dinalomo http://dilnalomo.googlepages.com/xposx01 Acronis Disk Director Suite for OS Selector. Know what? After a fresh installation of Win XP Pro SP2 -> Acronis OS Selector -> Mac OS X 10.4.8 JAS...the restart of my PC will not launch the OS Selector instead it went straight to boot Mac OS X (with a black blank screen after Apple boot logo) Appreciated for your advise / help As far as I know you are good on all counts. The CPU and the LAN I know for sure, but I think the ATI is good too.Stevo @ Stevo, the whole installation is good and successful, i can see very clearly and no graphic distortion during the installation of 10.4.8. only thing is i cant see a damn sh|t after the Apple boot logo gone..my monitor went offline knowing very well is display issue. i'm so helpless and dont know how to install the driver during the setup. thestevo
You aren't going to be able to do it during the install with that install disc as it does not contain Callisto. I thought you were going to be ok with Natit Uni, but as Ramm said it is not supported. I haven't used ATI cards with OS X, so I admittedly haven't stayed on top of all the package support for them. But, what you will have to do is an install with all of your options except any pertaining to graphics. Then, after OS X is installed you will have to install Callisto. When you first boot after this install with no graphic kext modifications the resolution might be bad, have mouse tearing, no QE/CI, etc. However, Callisto should get you going. If you want everything from the install you will have to get Uphuck's install DVD. That contains the option to install Callisto during installation. Stevo i have selected all related options for Intel CPU during my 1st installation...same no display after PC restart -> Apple boot logo with the colorful round cursor-> blank screen -> monitor went offline. Then 2nd installation with all related options ticked except this time without the nvidia/ati driver option - > same blank screen after boot logo. so you recommending me to BT Uphuck's install DVD? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56811-question-on-mac-os-x-1048-jas/#findComment-407153 Share on other sites
thestevo
From the options I can think of, that would be the simplest. However, there are people on this forum much smarter than I. Stevo prolly they felt it a repeated or too noobish question, no one actually replying to this thread. i have tried search the whole forum, there's a few of us facing same issue but without an answer to it. archimed
As with all osx86 installs, start by installing without ANY additional drivers and see if you can get it to boot. You can start adding drivers afterwards (one by one) until you get a grey screen of death Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56811-question-on-mac-os-x-1048-jas/#findComment-409251 Share on other sites
