I can't afford turning off my PC every time I need to go. If I leave it on, the room gets really hot, and the AC has to work hard, so my bill goes up. But I can't put it to sleep or it'll just turn off.

Here's the deal:

I installed the Uphuck 10.4.9 install and it works beautifully!

Configuration:

ASUS P5B DH Deluxe

Intel E6600 @ 3GHZ

7600 GT

Blah blah

I installed the SSE3 kernal and a few patches.

The DRIVERS were: SPEEDSTEP, TITAN, Azalia Audio, Intel Pro 10/100, and that's it I think.

The PATCHES were: I have no idea. Remove thermal kext, remove apple power management, or something. I really don't know.

Anywho, I've got internet and audio and all that stuff working on my first try.

I don't know how to see if Speedstep is working, though.

When I look at 'about my mac' it says I have a 3.0 ghz core 2 duo. When I look at the system activity monitor it APPEARS both cores are working. I can't see if my CPU is throttling when it's not in use, though.

What can I do to see if my CPU is throttling properly?!

I've tried downloading some patch for macs off of these boards, that combined SLEEP and SPEEDSTEP, but I had no idea how to use it. I read the instructions and they STILL make NO SENSE to me.

Can someone please help me?

I ALSO NEED TO MAKE THIS COMPUTER GO TO SLEEP PROPERLY. Restart is fine. Sleep and shutdown have the same function.

EDIT: CoreDuoTemp or whatever doesn't help. It seems like it reads the temp + speed of ONE CORE, since it is at 1.5 GHZ. It doesn't show any throttling, although it does say "MINI SPEED: 1 GHZ. MAXI SPEED: 1.5 GHZ."

EDIT: It may be worth noting that I have this installed on an EXTERNAL USB 5200 RPM HD.

EDIT: Hahahaha! It reads "I'm a poor college stud" -- I meant student ;).

coreduotemp doens't even work on mine. how can you find out if speedstep is installed?i used the uphuck 1.3
Dude -- that's what I'm asking. I mean, I'm assuming it is installed just by virtue of the fact that I clicked on it on the DVD.I just don't know if it is working or not.Anyone?
Really no one knows of any application I can use to see if speedstep is working? No one knows how I can use sleep? Also, if I click 'upgrade to 10.4.10' on the mac upgrade panel, what are the chances my upgrade will be successful?

No chanse to work from mac upgrade panel, that will work only with mac hardware (never PC). Check on irc.osx86.hu and piratebay.org for hacked 10.4.10 update (Darwin 8.10.1 kernel)
