Hi,

I'm currently looking to upgrade my Barton 2500+ system to a core2 rig, but i want it to be OSx86 compatible.

since I'm low on budget, i am looking for 945G/GMA950 motherboard for my rig.

I was planning to get P5LD2-VM, but its currently out of stock, so im looking for decent replacement with overclocking options to OC my core2.

open for suggestions,

zoig

i was offered GA-945G-S3 and GA-945G-DS3, has anyone got an idea about compability with OSx86?

the both have Realtek RTL8111B Gigabit Ethernet controller and Realtek ALC883 and 888 ALC audio codecs.

little hands on experience with them sholud help me decide :help:

edit: has anyone tried running GMA950 and 7600GT with 3 monitor setup?

edit2: i went for GA-945-S3. should have it with E2160 and 1GB ddr2-800 by tomorrow, il keep it updated once i'll get OSX running on it(i am also planning to try dual monitor with voodoo banshee before i receive my 7600GT )

945G-s3 should be quite OK for OSX, realtek ALC883 audio and realtek RTL8111B Ethernet are quite compatible with OSX

i run into a problem.

i have the 945G-s3 mobo, and seagate 7200.10 SATA drive. problem is, that uphuck 10.4.9 v3 nor jas 10.4.7 can't find my hard drive. when installing throug vmware i'm stuck on the 127GB limit, and i cant even see the partition in the end of my 320gb drive.

i think i have missed some option in BIOS. any ideas what should i try?

I'm not sure if this one can help you. I had a Maxtor SATA drive with the same problem. What I did was to remove the small jumper (like IDE has too), and maybe the master option (?).

The fact, after that, the HDD runs perfectly at 149GB (the usual 7% of formatting loss).

acutally i sorted that issue out allready, found it on the wiki from some other motherboard description.

i needed -legacy key in order to find SATA drives. also i updated 10.4.8 wiki with 945G-s3 motherboard
