canonbeck Posted July 9, 2007 Share Posted July 9, 2007 Hi there everyone - total noob here, trying to boot the JaS 10.4.8 installation dvd on my ASUS Vintage AH1 barebones system - SATA drive, nvidia 6200 64mb pci-e graphics, 756mb ram, Athlon64. I get the 'enter to boot or F8 for options' screen and when I continue I get a couple of lines of text (with -v) option and then the machine reboots itself. Has anyone got any ideas as to what I can try to get beyond this point? Is it liekly to be the sata drive thats the root cause? Any help appreciated. h4ck1n705h Posted July 9, 2007 Share Posted July 9, 2007 I also use an Asus notebook and along with you and a couple others, have the same problem. I haven't quite figured out what is wrong but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the optical drive. Try using an external dvd drive if you have one, I think this should solve that problem.
