GiggityGoo
I'm using uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3... I've got a 110GB SAMSUNG SATA hard disk (no S.M.A.R.T support - whatever that is) with two partitions. C:/ ~98GB and O:/ ~11GB. C: has Vista Ultimate installed. O: Is totally blank and I want to install OSX on it. When I reboot I select to boot from uphuck's dvd, everything goes smoothly. I get to the step where it asks to select a destination volume to install OSX. There is nothing to select. The disk doesn't appear and neither do any of the partitions. I used Acronis Disk Director to set up the partitions, however even when using Vista to make the partitions they don't work either. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried searching but didn't really find anything. My rig is a Dell M1710 laptop. Thanks EDIT: Changing topic title as I go along Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56652-forced-to-reboot/ Share on other sites
demented_goose
If you enter the disk utility in the mac setup does the disk appear there? If so click the partition you wish to use and click erase. use the mac file system (cant remember what its called not having used a mac properly before). Once the proccess has finished the name of the partition should have changed from a light grey to black. If not, select the partition and click "mount". Exit the disk utility and try again. GiggityGoo
Ok I managed to install - It rebooted but now after the grey screen with the Apple logo the screen goes blue and tells me I need to reboot. Did I miss a patch out or something? Intel C2D T7400 - SSE3 nVidia 7900 GTX Go Edit: If I have actually missed a patch or something out during the install is there a way i can fix it without reinstalling all over again? naddy69
If you are comfortable with the OS X command line, then yes you can try fixing things without reinstalling. Personally I find it easier to just reinstall, since it goes so fast anyways. Try the different kernels and patches first - no apps yet. This makes the install go much faster. After you get a working install, you can go back and just install whatever apps you want.
