hakushi
Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and new to installing mac on a pc. So basically i don't know where to start. My specs are AMD Athlon X2 3800+, Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G, XFX Geforce 6800 XT, Sound Blaster Audigy 4 sound card, and 1GB of ram. I'm currently downloading the JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 Is this the correct step to approach installing mac on my computer? Or is there another install file i should download instead? Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56635-im-new-and-i-need-help/ Share on other sites
h4ck1n705h
It should work fine, but if you want the latest and greatest, the newest install dvd is called uphuck v1.3 10.4.9. hakushi
Do i need to install 10.4.8 first in order to install Uphuck's 10.4.9? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56635-im-new-and-i-need-help/#findComment-404810 Share on other sites
kytzu
Do i need to install 10.4.8 first in order to install Uphuck's 10.4.9? You don't need, if you have SSE3 supported by your cpu, go straight with 10.4.9 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56635-im-new-and-i-need-help/#findComment-404853 Share on other sites
hakushi
I ran CPU-Z and under instructions in CPU, i see MMX(+), 3DNow!(+), SSE, SSE3, SSE3, x86-64 so does that mean my cpu supports SSE3 meaning i can install uphuck's 10.4.9 without any problems? I've watched a video on how to dual boot with xp and Jas 10.4.7, all that is needed to do is to burn the iso on to a dvd and pop it into the machine basically. Will this work with Uphuck's 10.4.9 as well? Rez.
Yes, You do have an SSE3 enabled CPU. The only problem I see with your hardware specs are the Sound Card - I dont thing Sound Blasters have had much success working on a Hackintosh. You may also want to remove that link you posted in your original post. hakushi
in another post, i read that uphuck's 10.4.9 has problems with SATA drives. I have a 160gb seagate sata drive as well as two other additional sata hdd for storage. Will i run into any problems trying to install and boot into osx?
