phee Nom Tracks
I was Recently over clocking my memory and i realized that my Video card memory was set to 64Mb (i have an ATI RADEON 9550) so i changed it up to 256MB and my Hac stopped booting. After changing it back to 64Mb it started just fine. this raises some questions. is 10.4.8 (i have the 8.8.1 kernel) not using my video card to its fullest potential? or does Mac automagically use the 256Mb of video memory even though my bios is only set to 64Mb. Any help would be appreciated My specs are Hardware Overview: Machine Name: OSx86 Development Platform Machine Model: iHack2,1 Processor Name: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU Processor Speed: 3.12 GHz Total Number Of Cores: 1 L2 Cache (per processor): 1 MB Processor Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL CID TPR Memory: 3 GB Bus Speed: 800 MHz Radeon 9550 AS: Chipset Model: Radeon 9550 AS Type: Display Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4153 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: LT-2025W: Resolution: 1360 x 768 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported i have an intel d875PBZ motherboard (socket 478) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56585-kernel-panic-when-i-change-video-memory-size/ Share on other sites
