I thought I'd post here my experiences getting the Uphuck DVD to boot on my system. When I extracted the image, I was puzzled that the disc image came in a format I didn't recognize: the file was a ".cdr" file. I found on some internet forum that the way to burn these images were to rename the .cdr file to .iso and it would burn. DO NOT DO THIS. Although this DVD image did boot on my desktop machine, it did not boot on my laptop.

So after pulling my hair out for a while, I found the proper way to burn the .cdr image using Nero for maximum compatibility.

Run Nero 7

In the menu options, select Recorder -> Burn Image

Select the drop down to see All Files (*.*) next to the file name box.

Double click on the uphuck DVD image which ends in .cdr

The "Foreign Image settings" dialog pops up.

Under "type of image", select "HFS". Hit "OK", then "Burn".

When I burned the image in this way, my laptop was able to boot off of it just fine. I just wish that specific burning instructions were part of most of the guides out there because this was a lot of uneccessary hassle for me.
