le garcon solitair
When I attempt to load uphuck, I just press enter and at first Darwin/x86 begins to load and then I get a kernel panic dump that ends with: Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform and then lists it's dependencies, com.apple.ioKit.IOKITFamily and com.apple.ioKit.IOACPIFamily. I'm a bit new to this, and I feel like I'm in a little bit over my head, can anyone help me out? Any help would be greatly appreciated! porka
I think you should start with telling us your system specs.. Have you tried safe mode ie. the -x option ? S@M TH3 MAN
I am having similar problems, im VERY new to this stuff... could it be that i got the uphuck cdr/iso from mininova? though i got a text document that said "torrent downloaded from demonoid.com? im not sure whick kernel to install, or any of the patches to go along with installation. I'm running a Dell Dimiension 8200 with the following... -Intel P4 2.0 ghz (SSE2 SSE3? im not sure) -1270mb RAM - Seagate 250gb IDE HDD - Seagate 40gb IDE HDD - NVIDIA 128mb Graphics - DVD +/- RW - DVD-ROM - SoundBlaster Live (i know these specs are not as specific as possible, but i havent gotten a chance to open up the case to chx out the models of hardware since ive been constantly trying re-installing the uphuck 10.4.9 with different configurations. ) any help would be much appriciated... dirtyhand
Same exact errors guys. I know the DVD works fine because it works on my laptop. About the kernel... I just use the default configuration. What I mean by this is that when I boot from DVD, it says hit Enter of F8 for advanced settings. When I just hit enter the error of the original poster happens to me too. I also tried using -x but same error. Where the hell do we even find the kernels we can use? I cant find any documentation with the complete list. Also when I use ? for help, the damn text doesnt use wrap around the screen and its impossible to read past the first line. le garcon solitair
i got the same text document, s@m. and dirtyhand, i have the same problem with the ? function. i also tried the JaS 10.4.8 and got the same kernel panic. i downloaded a zip file from the pirate bay with the newest kernel and update, and i thought maybe i could replace the mach_kernel on the mounted disk, but my damn mac tells me i don't have permission to edit it! i also tried removing AppleACPIPlatform from the mounted disk, so i copied the mkext file, unpacked it with mkextunpack, and then attempted to recompile the kexts into a new mkext file with kextcache but terminal gave me a bunch of errors saying none of them were valid kexts. i'm sure even if i did manage to recompile them, i would have gotten the same message telling me i don't have permission to edit the mounted disk. this is all very frustrating, really. mourngrym1969
You guys really want to go find Uphuck's V 1.3 of 10.4.9. It fixes issues, including a number of laptop related and ACPI problems as well as aggregates a lot of specific patches for various systems and problems people have reported. 10.4.8 is showing it's age on some things, a lot of which are now fixed or have know work arounds. Give it a try, lots of seeders on torrents... Good luck!
