On my compaq c500 i have installed osx 10.4.9 1.3 (uphuck) before and it worked fine (except for the wireless), I installed windows xp and created a partition for osx using windows xp diskpart (and made it active, all the steps in the tuturials forum). After i boot from the 10.4.9 uphuck dvd i can see the partition (hfs journaled) if i go to diskutils but i cant access it directly and pick it to osx install it on. Disktuil says that the disk is not mounted. Anyone have this problem before. OSX was installed natively on this before, but this the first time i am trying dual boot. c500 uses ich7 sata controlled, i have tried it in both sata native and sata non native mode and it acts the same way.

Have you tried doing an erase and re-installing OSX? I've always partitioned my drives outside of the windows environment. I use Hiren's Boot CD and the Partition Manager through DOS to create a FAT32 primary partition for OSX. Then I let OSX's installer change the FAT32 partition to HFS+ Journaled. It's probably just a typo, but I notice in your opening post that you say it's hfs journaled as opposed to hfs+.
