Amukinado
Hello. I'm a noob in this hackintosh things, but i'm very familiar to computers and how they work. To begin, I think that for someone like me, there is a lack of correct information/organization on the available stickies, as I couldn't find anything that provided me all the info to get the right OS for my system, and the patches, and how to install the patches... This is something i think the admins/mod's could work on.Maybe there is all the information you need, but for a noob on MAC or *nix system like me... It's a contructive opinion, ok!? Well... My system: DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D (Karajan audio module (8-channel), S/PDIF-in/out, Serial ATA 3Gb/s, RAID 0/1/0+1, Dual Gigabit LAN (1 marvell & 1 nvidia) , IEEE 1394 and 10 USB) - Manufacturer Specs AMD X2 3800+ 939 (SS3 detected on CPUZ) 2x512 Adata Vitesta 566 DDR@200MHz 2-2-2-5(OC babies that run on 285Mhz if I could give them the right timmings) XFX 6600GT 128MB PCI-e Maxtor 250GB Sata II Seagate 120GB Sata The rest are optical drives and so. I think the best OS for my system is 10.4.2...is that right? do I need any patch? Kernel changes? How do I change kernel? I'm really good at Window$, but not on MAC. I will need dual boot, as i have 2 partitions on my main hdd... I have suse linux enterprise 10 on the partition where I want to install Mac OS. How can i mantain dual boot, taking Linux out, without messing up with windows?(linux is dual booting with grubber I think). *(I don't know anything about linux, as I installed it to begin leraning it 2 weeks ago...) I really woul apreciate all the help you can give me, because all i've read isn't helping me that much...sorry. On my laptop... i don't think it will run, as it's a HP6100, with a pentium III@1000Mhz... Ther is no way, is it? Best regards, and I hope you guys can really help! mspr
Hello and welcome on this forum... As you can see I'm running OSX on AMD I think the best OS for my system is 10.4.2...is that right? 10.4.2 is an old release... I suggest you to try 10.4.8 do I need any patch? Kernel changes? Of course... you need some patches to run OSX on AMD... first of all you need a specific Kernel You will find main patches on the 10.4.8 DVD Other patches are for your video card... etc... you can find them on forum... Look for your mainboard in forum and wiki I think that you will have some problems with your SATA HDs. I suggest you to use an IDE disk for OSX. I will need dual boot, as i have 2 partitions on my main hdd... How can i mantain dual boot, taking Linux out, without messing up with windows?(linux is dual booting with grubber I think Yes you can mantain dual boot. There are a lot of how-to-guides on the forum. If you have the possibility to select directly from BIOS the boot HD you can choose this solution without installing any software... differently you can use Grub (Linux software) or Acronis (Windows software). On my laptop... i don't think it will run, as it's a HP6100, with a pentium III@1000Mhz... Ther is no way, is it? To run OSX you need at least a SSE2 CPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55744-help-on-my-hardware/#findComment-400508 Share on other sites

Waht i can't figure out is... if i downl**d 10.4.9, it's an ISO? I just have to burn it to a dvd and install? Or do I have to install and then aplly the patches? Thanks you! Thanks you! 10.4.8 and 10.4.9 are ISO so you have to burn the image on a DVD Then if you will boot your system form DVD installation will starts. Once the installation process has started you will be asked to select your language. Then open Disk utility to create a partition (you have to create an MBR partition = master boot record) and format the HD for OSX At this point you can select the formatted HD and you have to choose "install ad hoc" to select the main patches At the end of the process you have to reboot If you will have problems on the first OSX boot type F8 and -v Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55744-help-on-my-hardware/#findComment-400540 Share on other sites

bptba93
It can be on a partition, I'm dual booting Vista and OS X right now on my 250 GB sata. Back in 10.4.1 times they thought you had to use the whole hdd, this is no longer true.
