Okay, I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800, and I patched up my dvd, thinking that I should only need:

Extensions

CPUID Maxxuss Patch

Anti-TPM Patch

Well, I know this is a common problem, and its something to do with PAE or NX. Now, I thought that I had both.

(according to this, by the way, this is pretty good to check if your cpu has the right requirements http://images.tomshardware.com/2005/11/21/...istory_big.gif)

It says that my CPU has NX but on every single one of them, it doesn't say PAE. Well, how do I tell? I've googled, and cannot find.

If I do have PAE and NX, then whats going on?

Any help appriciated :poster_oops: Thanks

It has been stated before in this forum quite a bit. All modern day processors have PAE, but that is not the issue. It depends on if your motherboard is enabling it or not.

It is something about addressing 4GB of memory or more. More than likely your motherboard will not have it enabled unless you have 4GB installed. You may want to check the manufacturer to see if there is an updated BIOS online, if so check the changelog for PAE enabling.

My BIOS doesn't have a clearly definded name really, but I will search around.

Sorry, but all the topics ive read, are really confusing and I was all over the place with PAE.

EDIT: Do you recon that using the no NX patch would work? Because I clearly have PAE enabled on Windows, so theres no explanation why its not working.

Some help please, there are no straight foward answers anywhere, and I cannot afford to keep wasting DVD's.

I keep making different ISO's with different combinations of patches, and none work (well, I'm testing them on VMware to save disks, does that make any difference?) I keeo getting some Error about kernal stack or something, which I presume its exactly the same as my system spontaneously rebooting.

There's gotta just be an answer somewhere!!! Thanks!

"*** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) ***

The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down."

This is the message I get everytime I try to boot using Vmware for the following combinations:

CPUID, Extensions

CPUID, TPM

CPUID

CPUID, TPM, Extensions

CPUID, TPM, Extensions, Bootpatcher

CPUID, RTC, NONX, TPM

CPUID, RTC, NONX

Maxxuss Kernal NoNx

Bootpatcher, TPM

The only two that seem to work, are the Wesley's Generic installer, and just the bootpatcher on its own :-S

Its completely thrown me.
