dogbert
I've already ported drivers for the cmedia 8738 PCI sound codec and I've got some free time to port yet another kernel extension (w/ basic functionality for the most common incarnations, w/o 'advanced' stuff like EAX, ASIO and such). the Envy24 is the better chip technically speaking and I've already got an envy24 soundcard, but the creative stuff is more common. u can vote and throw in arguments for ur favourite soundcard and I'll decide in 24hrs from now what chip I'm gonna revive in os x. Monrad
Well, I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people using emu10k1 sound cards. I think you should go that way just for the availability.
macgirl
For me emu10k1, because I have one :-) But I'm using the Realtek AC97 onboard and the Sonica Theatre for Mac OS, In Windows I have both of them plus the Creative Audigy, but basically I left the speakers on the Realtek. dogbert
I won't buy an emu10k card off ebay, cause the payment + shipping takes a week and I don't have time for that. and I don't wanna spend 70 euro on a piece of crappy hardware which I won't use anyway. Why dont you just do online development, document the development and share the source code of your kext so that other people can use it as a framework for emu10k chip and others... Just an idea. xtraa
Yes, i also suggest, that the EMU would be the better choice. 1. more people seem to use them 2. you have a chance, to get pro-audio cards working, like the EMU1212 and all derivates of it. And as we all know, creative learned a lot from EMU. Including using good components, like the A/D D/A from digidesign protools.
Big Kahuna
And as we all know, creative learned a lot from EMU. Including using good components, like the A/D D/A from digidesign protools. They didn't learn strong drivers, and customer support. but eh, oh well.
