Missing Operating System

I just upgraded my hard drive from 60GB Toshiba to a Hitachi Travelstar 160GB on a Toshiba A35-S159 Notebook. I install xp and everything goes fine, and then I use partition magic to resize the NTFS partition to 70GB leaving 80GB unallocated. After using DISKPART to "create partition primary id=af size=40960" and then mark it as "active" I reboot I get a message saying "Missing operating system." This is before I have installed OS X. I've tried "fdisk /mbr" but I still get the same message and have to reinstall. What is going wrong?? Please help!

Oh and I have done this before on my old HDD with out a problem.

Thanks for any help.

your xp installation will really wont boot. because you made the AF partition active without any OS installed yet. in other words, you were booting from an empy partition, no os installed.

you must set back your xp partition to ACTIVE, and you should be able to boot your xp.
