Celeron D Performance

I have a celeron D right now. Do not believe people who claim yadda yadda yadda so slow. It is not that slow at 3.6ghz my machine is very snappy faster than the 1.8 yonah in my macbook. I concur that you probably need 2 gigs of ram and core 2 is better. The core 2 architecture is far superior to pentium 4 based stuff. You would be well advised to buy a celeron 420-430-440 as it is a single core2 chip and will generally outperform your pentium 4 D 6xx series. Your best bet though is a core 2 4300 or Pentium Dual-Core E2160 as you will get two cores and the new architecture. The Pentium DC E2160 runs around 90usd. So it is a good deal also it will overclock like mad easily to 2.4 stock volage and cooling at 1066 mhz bus. You probably also should get a 945 chipset board for maximum os x compatibility.
