I've tried booting in safe mode, and -x.

When I boot with -v, it stops after checking keyboard and mouse information. I've tried a few combinations of different keyboards and mice, including an Apple made pair, some compaq PS2 devices, and Targus USB stuff. But it still wont boot beyond that point. I'm I looking in the wrong place? I didn't think it could be so sensitive to input hardware.

This is the last message that shows up when booting in -v mode, in case it matters:

Still waiting for root device.

I have grub installed, and I heard that it can cause problems. So, I'm going to try deleting grub and seeing if that works.

Is the boot problem with the darwin loader or OSX? Which is your active boot partition, if any?

Well, I'm trying to install OS X, so I don't think it's Darwin, but I don't have any idea. As far as the boot partition, also, I have no idea.

Currently, I've got Windows XP and Ubuntu installed with Grub as a boot loader. I was hoping I could load up my OS X install DVD and wipe my HD clean, and have only OS X, but I can't get past this "still waiting for root device" error after the USB check.

From the deadmoo(yummycow) version or the DVD which has tons of problems? Other than that, I need to know 3 other things equaling 5, the m-board manufacturer, processor type, and the hd-controller. All and/or Any of Those things will all account for the root error.

DVD version 10.4.3 build 8f1111.

Pentium 4 2.4 ghz

Apparently, the motherboard is an Asus P4S533VX

Not sure about the Hd-Controller, how can I check?

If you still have access to windows XP the VIA Bus master. You can use the device manager will tell you. you may also check Asus's specifications on the motherboard, Using there website support on the board P4S533VX.
