  1. I'm in the market for a new laptop and I'm in love with the Vaio TX series, specifially this one. I've been a Mac user almost exclusively for years, so I'd lament having to start using Windows just because Apple doesn't make an ultra portable laptop. I've got (limited) experience in installing OSx86 on other systems, and I was wondering if OSx86 would install without too much trouble on this computer. It's got an Intel Core Solo Processor U1500 Ultra Low Voltage. Thank you for any help/information.

Boots in VMWare, but not natively

I did but there is currently no fix for a SiS 651. Although, there is a group of people working on it, which is good.

Boots in VMWare, but not natively

Thank you, and I see from the search results that there is no solution...

Boots in VMWare, but not natively

According to this website, my computer has a "SiS651" chipset. Does that sound about right?

    It's a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4
  6. Currently, my computer doesn't recognize the format of the Rhapsody x86 CD, is that because I don't have the boot floppy? If I had it, would it work? Unfortunately, I don't have the boot floppy, so if anyone wants to drop me a PM I'd be very happy...

Boots in VMWare, but not natively

I just tried both, and it seems as though I'm getting the dreaded 'still waiting for root device' error that forced me to install with VMWare in the first place... I thought if I could install it then it'd be fine, but I guess not. Any suggestions? This is probably a common problem with a wide-range of causes, but I'd still really like some help... Thank you. I've got my HDD plugged in as Master on IDE 1. I also tried IDE 2. edit: In fact, I've tried every jumper setting in every IDE position, and I get the same result.
  8. I installed JaS OS 10.4.7 on a seperate drive, and it boots fine in VMWare. But when I try to boot natively from that drive I get a "no smoking"-like sign. What could cause this? Please help.

    Still waiting for root device...

Ok, je vais installer avec VMWare. Est-ce que je peux employer le même disque ou je dois employer le disque deadmoo?

    Still waiting for root device...

J'ai téléchargé le disque: «Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack» et mis le sur DVD. Malheureusement il y a toujours une erreur énonciation «Still waiting for root device». J'ai une disque avec IDE, pas SATA, et je ne sais pas ce qui à faire. J'ai essayé «Safe Mode» et tous les options comme -f et rd=disk0s1 et platform=X86PC etc.

    Freezing on apple screen

Well, I'm trying to install OS X, so I don't think it's Darwin, but I don't have any idea. As far as the boot partition, also, I have no idea. Currently, I've got Windows XP and Ubuntu installed with Grub as a boot loader. I was hoping I could load up my OS X install DVD and wipe my HD clean, and have only OS X, but I can't get past this "still waiting for root device" error after the USB check.

    Freezing on apple screen

This is the last message that shows up when booting in -v mode, in case it matters: Still waiting for root device. I have grub installed, and I heard that it can cause problems. So, I'm going to try deleting grub and seeing if that works.
