I managed to get OS X installed on my spare drive, and the only way I can get it to boot is by using the installation DVD, and issuing the "platform=acpi|x86pc mach_kernel rd=disk0s1 -v" command. I added OS X to GRUB (dual booting Debian), but nothing happens when I try and boot it. In my GRUB menu.lst file I have:

title Debian GNU/Linux, 2.6.14

root (hd1,0)

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.14-2-686 root=/dev/hdb1 ro

initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.14-2-686

title Debian GNU/Linux, 2.6.14 (Recovery Mode)

root (hd1,0)

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.14-2-686 root=/dev/hdb1 ro single

initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.14-2-686

title Mac OS X

root (hd0,0)

chainloader +1

Is there something I need to add to that? Seems like I'm missing something.

Also, when I boot OS X using the DVD, applications are extremely buggy. iTunes refuses to open, Safari will open, but crashes when trying to do anything, and using everything else has about a 50% chance of not responding when trying to use. Is this a common thing on OSX86?

One more thing. I use 1280x1024 resolution in Linux, and OS X doesn't allow me to select anything other than 1024x768. is there a utility like "xorgconfig", or "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" for OS X?

I'm running 10.4.1 by the way. "Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD" to be exact.
