Does anybody knows how to get the ethernet working on this laptop. I got wireless working and sound as well, but I cannot get the ethernet to work. Any IDEAS?????????

I have an acer 5610.. I have my sound sort of working it crackles and skips a lot. My wireless doesn't work and my USB ports don't work. I can see them in on the system but any usb drives or wifi network keys don't show. I've gotten drivers for OSX 10.4.8 from lacie, belkin, and from apple for USB 2 but with no luck. I'm tired of burning CDs with drivers on em.

 

Can you tell me how you got your sound and wireless working?

 

I'm actually at the point now where The laptop might be a write off and I might consider just buying a macbook. Which means I'll be down a {censored} load of cash :-(

Hello,

 

with my 5612wlmi I truobled a lot trying to let the Ethernet working and finally I discovered that sometimes need to disconnect battery and power supply and wait a couple of minutes, than reconnect power, specially if I start OSX after Windows XP.

I guess some registry used by Windows is not corectly managed by OSX.

 

Personally I use IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.7

 

Even audio is working good with ALC883 drivers.

 

I had a lot of problems specially speed and audio when I tried to upgrade to 10.4.9 so now I'm back to 10.4.8 semthex kernel 8.8.1
