This is how I installed OSX.

1. Downloaded Deadmoo's tiger image

2. Opened VMware and booted the image

3. Changed the password in single user mode

4. Installed Darwin 8.0.1 in vmware onto a physical hard drive to format it to HFS+.

5. Booted the image and logged in.

6. Ran disk utility.

7. Ran the restore feature in disk utility.

8. After restoring the image to the physical hard drive I ran the fix permisions feature.

I was told to then boot into single user mode and run some commands to make the disk writeable and stuff. (it was a tutorial on crocretesurf.co.nz/osx86). But when I try to boot from the physical hard drive (be it natively or in vmware), it hangs on a underscore (_). Any ideas?

Turns out the hard drive was corrupted. I thought MacDrive was bsing me but I guess not. I redid the install with out turning off vmware's computers by hitting the stop button, and it worked. I just can't get into single user mode.

Problem continued and explained here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=675
