Hi guys,

1: I got an amd 64 3400+ = how do i know if it is SSE2 or SSE3? - is my cpu compatible basically?

2: I got this downloaded and burned - Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD

3: I boot and it stays at the point where it asks to select a location where to install it, but no locations are shown - why? (tried with sata and ide = nothing showing up - i've waited for 10 minutes)

4: Shall i convert the disk into some specfic format or will the installation just start by booting from dvd as i'm trying?

Please, what am I doing wrong?

Thank you guys in advacnce

Arylone

It will not show anything until you have a HFS partition, but when you are installing there is a menu with utilities, hit on Disk Utility and it can partition you disk, take care to not erase other partitions though.

OK, yes thanks guys it worked.

However, i could not log in!!!

Why? because my keyboard wasn't recognised and i could not type in the information! yet the mouse was working.

I guess i need a usb keyboard as the mouse works but it's usb and the keyboard is not.

What you recon?

OKidoki.

I'll get a usb key tomorrow.

General questions:

Can i install any mac softwares?

I mean does this work as normal as a mac os x on a mac?

i.e. flash ? photoshop? etc.. and also virtual pc?

Thanks guys

Not all Mac software runs, those that need G4 had problems, but almos any PPC Application could run.

Macromedia Apps works, Photoshop Works, Flash works on the latests builds or Running with Rosetta in the past build.

Virtual PC does not run, but as you are already in X86 thre is Darwine that runs Win programs, look arround in the forum there is a thread about Darwine.

There are many ways.

If it is an image you can open it with transmac or VMWare.

If it is a Physical Disk you can add it with VMWare, MacDrive, Booting with Darwin CD.

The name of kext is ApplePS2Controller.kext

Look at the Wiki guides there are some that tells how to add files to the HFS partition/image.

CPU-Z should do the trick in revealing it.

Basically if your AMD64 processor is Winchester or earlier, you've got SSE2 only.

If you have the newer Venice core, you're a lucky basterd with SSE3 enabled cpu, which means better performance, since you won't need a patch to alter all those SSE3 instructions (that the newest builts of x86 Tiger seem to riddled with) to SSE2.
