GreekDJ
I am stuck with the dreaded "Still waiting for root device" error, but I have read around and none of the fixes have yet to work. I was wondering if anyone had gotten osx to work on a similar computer to mine, and I would greatly appreciate any help. AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Abit AV8 w/VIA K8T800 nVidia GeForce 6800GT 40GB IDE HDD I also have my 160GB SATA drive with WinXP unplugged throughout the installation process. Am I doing anything that is obviously wrong?
blotsome
I got a similar configured box to install. All I can say is test out switching what plug on the IDE cable your drives are on, and test out swtiching the jumpers. What worked for me is having the DVD drive on the master plug, and the HD on the slave plug, but jumpered to master.

fangoria
I had the same problem on my laptop, but since then I tried booting off of a IDE drive hooked up to a USB interface and was able finally to install JAS 10.4.8 release with no problems at all.
