avatar69
Guys, Having a problem with 1099 4.3 recognizing my CDRW/DVD drive. It has worked a *few times* on bootup but after a few minutes or so in Tger its no longer recognized, and if I go to burner information it basically freezes the system info, and I have to force quit it. I have a p4800e deluxe mobo running a p4 3.2 (see2) with tiger 10.4.3 (1099), and a cd rw + dvd R combo (IDE). The drive is set on IDE channel 2 as a slave. There is nothing set as master. On channel 1 I have 2 hard drives (1 for XP and 1 for Tiger). Any help with this would be great. Most of the time its not recognized at all. Hagar
Well, the classic answer would be to set it as primary slave... I don't know whether that information is out of date now.. either way, I would think that having it set to slave with no master is an odd setup, so if you can't have it as primary slave, at least set it to master if it is alone on a bus. avatar69
Thanks Hagar. It is alone on a bus, so I guess I should set it to master. In general does it look like people arent really having a problem with their CD writers under Tiger? avatar69
OK switched the CDRW to master and now its beeing recognized all the time in the system prophiler. The problem now seems to be that I dont actually have a CDRW icon anywhere, so I can drag stuff into it and burn it onto CD......any thoughts?
