avatar69
Hi everyone. I have 10.4.3 running pretty smoothly on my p4 3.2 with a radeon 9600 (regular). Both QE and the other one (forgot) are supported, but under the graphics card it shows "VGA Graphics Adapter", and 1024x768 is the only resolution available in the selector in system preferences. Can anyone please let me know how this card is supposed to be shown? Is it supposed to be recognized? Should I have more options rather than 1024x768? Should I load any drivers, or just leave it as is. Any help would be great. Thx. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5129-radeon-9600/ Share on other sites
Tak
Yes that's how it is shown. The only other thing you can do (if you haven't already) is to edit the 9700 GA plugin plist to include your device ID. Should improve performance a little. <dict> <key>10024150-0000-0000-0000-000a27898d3e</key> <string>ATIRadeon9700GAFactory</string> </dict> <key>CFPlugInTypes</key> <dict> <key>ACCF0000-0000-0000-0000-000a2789904e</key> <array> <string>10024150-0000-0000-0000-000a27898d3e</string> </array> Replace 4150 with your device ID. 4150 is my device ID (9600 pro) Edited November 30, 2005 by Tak Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5129-radeon-9600/#findComment-32573 Share on other sites
avatar69
Cool thanks for the info. I will try it, but I am a little bit of a MAC noob. Can you please let me know how I can tell WHAT kext is beeing loaded, then how can I find it, and then how can I edit it? Then how can I tell if what I did works? Also has anyone figured out a way to get rid of these artifacts when using the mouse scroller? Thanks. Hagar
to check what kexts are loaded: go to System Profiler (in Applications/Utilities) & click on "Extensions" this gives you a list of loaded kexts. alternately, open a terminal & type kextstat. The kexts live in /System/Library/Extensions, and to "edit" them you right-click & choose "Show Package Contents", then navigate to info.plist & open that with a text editor. The artifacts are a fact of life for the time being, the only tip I've seen is to keep your mouse cursor to one side whilst scrolling.. Hope this helps. Are there any other performance related tweaks that people know for 1099 running on sse2? Been browsing forums and havent seen much. I have maxxus patches installed v.1.1.
