branman900
Okay so this will be my first time trying to build a OsX86 box. I've installed OsX on a few computers so i'm mostly comfortable with that process. I'm going to install 10.4.8 and according to the wiki this processor [intel Celeron D 336 Prescott 2.8GHz LGA 775 64-Bit Processor] works flawlessly. I originally wanted to buy a 1.66ghz core duo mac mini this summer but being the poor college student I am, bills and beer come first. So bearing in mind that I'm trying to build a "budget" machine, do you think i'll get adequate performance out of this processor to run things like iLife '06 etc.? Celeron D 336 2.8ghz If this doesn't look good, i'm also open to other low budget suggestions (ie under or around $50 processors) Thanks! [EDIT] I'm thinking of pairing it alongside the Asus P5P800-MX processor, which the wiki also suggested was highly compatible Asus P5P800-MX Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/51146-first-time-builder-budget-system-your-thoughts/ Share on other sites
marliwahoo
Look for newegg open box items. MB Asus P5LD2-VM ($67) and a Pentium D 805 for 59.99. These are both great choices.
