Booting Linux off Firewire Drive with Intel Macbook

Hi,

 

I want to boot Linux off of my Firewire drive attached to an Intel MacBook Pro. I have refit installed, and installed Ubuntu 7 on the firewire drive, with grub installed on the firewire drive. However, it won't boot with refit.

 

What do I need to do? Should I install grub on my internal drive? I don't want to screw up my OS X boot.

 

Are there any other threads related to this? The search on this site doesn't seem to be working, it always returns the same list.
