same with the audio

i did get the power management installed properly tho..

any suggestions on how to fix internet/audio

Hi,

What patch did you use for Power? What happened before and after?

I have an Acer 4220 and powermanagement.bundle hack didn't worked for me...

For wifi they are working on a driver may be you want to test it:

For sound I used one of these, sorry I don't remember...:

For Graphics I had problems with 10.4.7, but with 10.4.8 works full (QE/CI)

check out this topics any way:

Do you use dual boot with XP? Check the time issue here:

Send me a message or post here regarding power, thanks!

I have a very similar laptop, the Acer 5630. I've got 10.4.8 working pretty well, with graphics and audio (my audio is Realtek though... found the solution in the Tutorials subforum). However, I have the same wireless card you do, and as far as I know, it isn't supported yet. As for the included software, the x86 DVD images don't include any of that, only the core operating system. I have iLife running, but I had to acquire that separately after I installed OSX.

Nice! If you know someone with an Intel mac you can get iLife off their install disk no.2. But it's hidden to finder, you must just use Pacifist, or some other trick.

As for Wifi, you will have to get a mini-pci card or usb device to get that working.

for my power management i used this:

i have JaS 10.4.8 running pretty good right now.. i got my sound, built in e-net, and touchpad working.. all i have left is the camera and wifi

i ordered a new mini pcie wifi card that works natively so that should be fixed soon.. my only gripe is that i cant get the virtual scroll on the trackpad working.. for my trackpad i used:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...419&hl=alps

also i dont know what is causing this but it seems like os x and win xp (i dual boot) are messing up my bios clock? cause only one operating system can have the right time.. if i correct one the other gets off.. hmm..

Yeah, I'm definitely having that clock issue too. In Windows, it seems like the clock is always resetting back every hour, so time never actually progresses. Even Windows time synchronization doesn't work. Been looking or a fix.

I've just bought an Aspire 5610 same as you amdmatt. I'm a software engineer and know my way around windows linux unix and so on fairly well. But this will be my first attempt at OSX.. I've all the same hardware as you ( obviously ) But I'm not goint to attempt to setup a dual boot with winxp. I want mac os purely for performing music live.

What build of OSX ( I think you said 10.4.8 is a good one )

Are there any major blunders I'm gonna hit that you guys might take for granted but that I might have a melt down about :-)

How fast does the beast go once you have it all finished? And are there any issues installing Mac software afterwards.. I reckon you have all the answers for me :-D or maybe others can bail me out..

I have 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 with intel patches on my acer 5610. My sound partially works. It keeps crackling. My usb ports are identafied by the system but no devices that are plugged in are picked up. USB keys, USB drives nothing. My wifi doesn't work nor does ethernet.

A guy on this post

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...806&hl=5610

Has wifi working but no ethernet..

My acer is Centino core2 duo 1.66GHz t2300

512 MB ddr2 667Mhz

60gb harddrive

intel 3945 wifi

intel 945GM graphics

realtek audio

4usb ports

I downloaded Mac OS X 10.4.9 Intel SSE3 [JaS 10.4.8 AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2.iso + JaS.10.4.9.Combo.Update.Intel.SSE3.zip]

Made the DVD and it boots no problems.

ON customize install I choose no print drivers, no extra languages, and only selected intel updates

installation went perfect

Got a B0 error on boot so I used hirens boot cd to mark the partition as active and then rebooted

mac OS X loaded no probs, I created an acount and started her up

I had no Sound, No usb devices found, no wifi access. no real power managment if the screen goes black I have to unplug the battery and restart

Ive tried the following sound patches, ALC883Audio and AzaliaAudio both get some sound out but the sound crackles and doesn't sound perfect, sounds almost as if the buffer for the sound is stalling or something like that.

tried iwi2100, iwi2200 and iwi3945, no success with any of them.

tried apple osx 10.4.8 usb 2.0 update from apple, but no usb devices recognized.

If anyone has any of the above problems sorted out please help. If I get these working I will publish a detailed installation guide with screenshots so no one has to endure the head meltage :thumbsup_anim:

Thanks to all who helped me out here.. But I've decided to leave the osx to an older pc which I will redo as a mac and use for recording, I will donate it to the youth services where I work so the kids can record stuff..

I'll fix back up the laptop and get it running good so I can sell it. then I will buy a macbook they're not that dear and the work out of tha box. Which as a DJ I need.

Thanks again your a legend bunch of people and your doing wonders to bring something good to many other people. In a way this site is actually a boost for mac sales.. Anyone who really needs one gets a taste of OSX and will decide to buy the MAC. and the rest are getting osx exposure without having to blindly invest in a mac. Hopefully this make for competition for windows. and help clean up the sloppiness of MS stuff so that the consumer finally wins in IT.
