ParkAvenger
I've got OSx86 working now (finally), but whenever I open .pkg files - installers - the installer hangs and I have to force-quit. I haven't seen this problem posted before, and it seems to be consistent between all .pkg files. Any ideas? Thanks! EDIT: I'm using JaS 10.4.7, by the way. Oracle67
What is the *.pkg you try to open?
ParkAvenger
The first one that I had this problem with was the MacVidia driver installer package. The second one was an iLife installer package. Both have the same problem.
Oracle67
It is (maybe) package problem, iLife is 6 Giga dmg. Scip the "verify" dialog and try again.
ParkAvenger
I tried that, but it made no difference. It's not a problem with .dmg files at all, those work fine. It's an issue with the actual installer things, .pkg and .mpkg files. This happens with every single one: the Introduction window with the pencil and ruler in the background opens up, and BAM the application stops responding and the colorful beach ball spins and spins. I have to force quit the installer every time. It's quite strange. Even weirder: when I'm in Column view and I right-click on a .pkg file, the Finder stops responding. It only does this in Column view though. This has me completely stumped.
Oracle67
Go: Aplications> Utilities> locate the "Installer". Right clik on it and click "Get Info". Chek "Open Using Rosetta". Post if it worked.
ParkAvenger
Yay, it worked! Installer packages open A-OK when using Rosetta. Thanks! But sound still isn't working... weird, because when I booted for the first time (i.e. with the boot disc in the DVD drive) sound worked fine. ParkAvenger
It's onboard my Gigabyte K8N Pro-SLI motherboard. According to the website, the sound is "Realtek ALC850 Audio AC'97 Codec."
