Hi all,

I didn't find this problem before. I have a Dell Optiplex GX270, 2.8 GHZ pentium 4. Looking through the X86project wiki the hardware should work.

I have the JaS Intel/AMD SSE3,SSE2 10.4.8 DVD (size 3.8 Gbyte, don't know about patches).

I can boot with the DVD but the screen becomes black and white and unreadable. So I had to install blind.

Unfortunate the resulting install didn't boot.

It would be great if someone could help me.

Do I have the correct build ?

Why is the screen black and white ?

Do I have to start with a command line after installing

Any help is appreciated

Out of interest, can you run 'parallels' in OS-X on a non apple platform

Oracle, installing 10.4.8 is not the solution to every single problem. It seems most of your helping posts involve that. Cargoo, either set your integrated graphics to 8mb or get another video card to use.

I recomend what it worked better, with minimal problems to solve and easy going results, with my hardware.

I test it > it worked good > i recomend it.

I test it > it worked but with problems > i give the solution and i recomend it.

I test it > it gives me hard time > i dont encourage the use of it.

No. 10.4.8 doesent solve any problem it self.

Cargo already have a 10.4.8 (3,8 Gig) and it is not the latest.

The one that i say about (4,38 Gig) it have some more solutions in it.

1048 does solve some problems, but it does not mean that it would be easier to download a whole new image just to fix one problem that can be worked out. And I highly doubt you have experienced every problem ever known to OSx86.

I doupt if you have, installing in Dell, personal experience.

Is that hardware on that picture familiar to you?

I hadn't even noticed your limitations in English. You seem to speak it finely.

To the poster, just try to get your video memory as high as possible.

Many thanks for all your help.

1) I have downloaded the JaS version Oeacle has suggested

2) I will see if I can chenage the video RAM in the BIOS (I think its the latest version A07).

I will post an update tomorrow what worked. I'm still in good hope to get OSX86 up and running on this machine. Ihttp://forum.insanelymac.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif bought specific on ebay because I think all the hardware should work out of the box (reported in the wiki)

Here my update:

New DVD Mac Os X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso as suggested by Oracle didn't help

However, changing the BIOS setting, graphic allocation from 1Mb to 8Mb did work. No problems with the install. Network / sound working. So far no problems. I can confirm Optiplex GX270 is working.
