Here are the specs from Linux and rom WInXP: Linux: Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. Unknown device 001c (rev 01) Subsystem: Atheros Communications, Inc. Unknown device 3063 Windows: Atheros AR5006EX Wireless Network Adapter Device ID: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_3063168C&REV_01\4&20975680&0&00E1 The Info.plist files of all the IO80211Family.kexts I used contained the adequate <string>pci168c,1c</string> under <key>IONameMatch</key> (/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros5424.kext/Contents/Info.plist) Please any of you who got this card working in x86, I would be very happy if you could zip up and attach some little kexts to get a smile back onto my face again : IONetworking.kext IO80211Family.kext IOPCIFamily.kext Thanks a lot, Bugs Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have also applied the appleairport 2007-02 update, but that didn't help here .. You would do me a great favour if you could zip up and attach some little kexts to get a smile back onto my face again : IONetworking.kext IO80211Family.kext IOPCIFamily.kext could you do that for me? When you open a reply, down below the window there is a button "attach" which you can use. Which MAC OS x86 DVD have you used for your install, and have you appllied any Update since then? bresson Posted May 5, 2007 Share Posted May 5, 2007 your wifi card chip ar5424 or 5414 ? becouse ar5424 full working 5414 and 2424 not yet my dvd jas 10.4.8 and jas 4.9 update atheros 5006ex (ar5424 chip) full auto working. plug and play and try anoter wifi dell truemobil 1490 (broadcom 4311) full working. but any time library/preferences/systemconf/networkinterface.plist fix to en1 (airport conf.) Sandra even says the driver loaded is AR5211, which is reported not to work in OS x86 .. The working AR5424 is built into the AR5006EXS 54 Mbit abg which can be purchased here (US $29.00), and into Apple's very own AR5BXB6 108 Mbit abg (US $14,00, shipping worldwide - sold out right now, I snatched the last one for this round .. ). The card they display in this wiki is also the AR5006EXS not the AR5006EX - that is a wide spread error in the internet, maybe you have a AR5006EXS, too, and not a AR5006EX? 'Cause this AR5006EX I purchased really does not work .. Aynway, to make the long story short, I just purchased the Apple MacBook A1181 2.0 GHz 13.3" AR5BXB6 (40Y7026) 108 Mbit abg Wireless Card and will return the not-working one once I have the original Apple card working. I ordered exactly that card (same pics) from an ebay shop in the US and just got confimation that it was just shipped, yippie , after ordering this morning so it should be here in Germany by middle or end of next week, from my experience. I meant ar5424, sorry that was a typo, I just corrected that in my posting above. There are SOOOO many Atheros chips & numbers around, even for the MiniPCI express, it's really horrifying. I kind of figured your ar5424 was a AR5006EXS and not a AR5006EX .. Where' you from, BTW? I mean which country do you live in? You are quite experienced with OS x86 as it seems. I'm running JaS 10.4.8 with 10.4.9 update on a Dell D820. Switched to the Dell Truemobile (Broadcom 4311 chipset) card and it works a treat with the en0 -> en1 switch. I will report back :pirate2: ! hello i'm considering getting a new PCI-E based centrino laptop, so that means replacing the intel 3945abg. what wireless card have you had success with? i've found this one (from a macbook) and this one. what's the difference between AR5006EX and AR5006EXS? both http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR5006EXS.htm and http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR5006EX.htm point to different pages with a title of AR5006EXS. so confused OK i see, the 5006EXS is AR5424 (has Super G 108Mbps), and the 5006EX is AR5423 (No Super G). Both have 802.11a And the 5006EGS is AR2424 (SuperG); the 5006EG is AR2423 (No SuperG). these don't have 802.11a Has anyone had success with an official Apple Airport from a MacBook?
