rstensho
Alright...... Not to sound new, this is my first post, but ive had 10.4.1 installed and running lovely for quite some time. Installation is dead though, installed 10.1.1 language files...... needless to say its dead. But that is not why I am here. So: I know i have SSE3, and Hyper threading enabled. I also have the intel variant of NX available. in reading about 64 bit/ PAE..... I understand them to be extremely similiar. So then if emt64 is the newer of the PAE variants, why wont this work??? I am extremly pissed off at this latest hardware requirement. But then, I expected it. But now I want to install 10.4.3 I have original dvd image/ already iso now, and patched with version 1.1 maxxuss. When i select the DVD from the boot manager, it just reboots. (Native) I tried it in VMWARE 5.5, no luck, currently trying to get 5.0 I dont want vmware though. My native install was great SO: 1. Am I Missing Something? 2. Will this ever work (native)? 3. Can i get it to install in vmware, albeit temporarily? Please help, i hate windoze so much now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4975-p4-521-64bit-problems-with-8f1111/ Share on other sites

rstensho
vmware 5.0 is going to take forever. I have been messing around in bios and have found a TPM option enabling it, and another security option for it. is this a different type of TPM or can this be used. If so, are there different patches. Still I have to contend with the PAE issue. I am really not understanding why Apple chose to enable PAE extensions in the kernel. another matching card to eliminate us? probably..... Well, anyone working on the PAE issue. I have a P4 and SSE3 and the intel NX bit. BUT no PAE. sorry for the ramble, just cant wait to get 8f1111 installed Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4975-p4-521-64bit-problems-with-8f1111/#findComment-31729 Share on other sites
macgirl
I dont think that VMWare takes forever, I installed with VMWare in about thirty something minutes, when of course there was no patch already. One of the advantages of VMWare is that the ISO image is in the disk and accessing it is faster than accessing from the Physical DVD drive. Also there is the new 5.5 release, yes it is now a release, and is faster with Mac OS X. skippyretard
I had to reflash my bios on ECS 915-m5 inorder for the nx/xd to work properly. If your bios doesn't reconize the nx/xd it may not enable PAE unless you have 4gb or more RAM. rstensho
anyway... version 5.0.0 of vmware is not the answer for me either. I assumed yeah, assumed, that vmware would somehow emulate PAE since winxp64 supports the long bit anyway, or that emt64 would allow it to emulate. no dice. i have latest version of bios. its a dell board..... version A04 of bios. nx/ intel variant of it is enabled. i suppose maxxuss is working on 8F1111 and that there really is no other option than to reinstall 10.4.1 and patch it up.... anybody know if microsoft virtual pc can install and run in osx86?
