kneeki Posted April 25, 2007 Share Posted April 25, 2007 I have been trying to figure out why you would ever use the NTSC profile while color correcting photo's that will be displayed on televisions. Some co-workers of mine are obsessed with the issue, but cannot give me any reason to do it other than "Do it, because I said." - Anyone got any links or know off the top of your head why you would ever want to do this? riktor Posted April 25, 2007 Share Posted April 25, 2007 It gives the image a color safe spectrum for NTSC, NTSC cannot show full white of full black from RGB and this command automates the task of putting the file into the color safe range for use on television. Should we remove the NTSC profile once the color correction is complete, and not save it to the file - or - save it to the photo? riktor Posted May 11, 2007 Share Posted May 11, 2007 Well the profile is for when you have a properly calibrated monitor... the profile adjust the colors so the screens gives you an accurate view of what would be on NTSC TVs. The Color correction compresses the image and actually alters the colors of the file. The profile only works on profiled apps and calibrated monitors.
