ASUS A6Km/Z9200Km Problems

First I tried famous deadmoo.

Applied kernel and coregraphics SSE3 patches.

Works great. But no chance to use new software on it.

Problems: No sound, No PATA, Geforce go 7300 (1024x768 vesa3) thus No QE/CI, No wireless.

CPU: Speed: 1800MHz FSB:200MHz

Fan triggers when the load gets high and becomes silent after cooling down.

Then JAS 1048 with SSE3.

It is installed from DVD easily.

Problems: No sound, No PATA, Geforce go 7300 (1024x768 vesa3) thus No QE/CI.

Wireless works after a small change in IO802.

CPU: Speed: 1800MHz FSB:400MHz

Fan never stops. Always highest RPM. It looks like CPU is burning !!!

I read many pages in the forum thus tried many kexts.

But none was working.

My details: (Sisoft Sandra)

I need help on non-working devices.

Is there anybody who has same-similar configuration and had those problematic devices working ?

Thanks...

Hi zombidik, try this for audio driver http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...16404&st=40, and this for pata problem AppleVIAATA.kext.zip and:

  • delete AppleVIAATA.kext in MacOS->System->Library->Extensions (pwd required)
  • unzip the AppleVIAATA.kext.zip and put the new file in extensions folder (pwd required)
  • open the terminal
  • sudo -s
  • chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext
  • chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext
  • rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
  • rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

then reboot.

Now osx will be faster, but on my a6km the kext causes some error so after the first reboot osx creates kextcache and disables the new one.

You can set "-f" on darwin bootloader and osx won't load kextcache.

I read somewhere that linux hangs up too plugging usb devices during boot, and I don't know any fix.

Nvidia natit patch should be on jas 10.4.8 dvd.

Read this for fan speed http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=44216 and take a look here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showforum=75. Unfortunately this doesn't fix for me.

Hey Dox,

Thanks for your reply.

I will try those kexts as soon as I have my JAS installation boot up.

-----------

For the fan problem, have you tried passing fsb=200 on darwin bootloader? I saw that somewhere while googling for solutions for my A6Km.

On 1041, when I check system profile I see fsb 200(so everything works fine, fan triggers on and off depending on the CPU temperature) and on 1048 I see fsb 400 (so fan is always active because cpu works full speed).

-----------

I just deleted HFS+ partition, where there was deadmoo and made a clean install using AMD jas1408 DVD.

There it seems that I cannot boot up anymore.

I use GRUB for booting.

I tried different methods(I think I tried everything on forums);

1.rootnoverify (hd0,3)

makeactive

chainloader (hd0,3)+1 ---that works with deadmoo but not with JAS1048

2.chain0 file from NTFS partition ---copied chain0 from DVD to NTFS, which works with deadmoo too but not with JAS1048

3.chain0 file from reiserfs partition. ---copied all boot files from DVD to boot directory

chainloader (hd0,6)/boot/chain0

4.also tried vmware where deadmoo and JAS are mounted and booting up deadmoo partition(image file) then passing

rd=disk1s4 (where JAS is mounted as phsycal partition) to darwin boot loader then I got /sbin/launchd error

if I directly boot to deadmoo it works and I also can see JAS partition mounted RW when deadmoo starts.

I also can mount JAS partition under linux and can read it.

5.dd'ed deadmoo image boot sector to JAS partition. When deadmoo booted up, from terminal dd if=/dev/rdisk0 of=boot_file bs=512 count=1 then copy that file to linux then dd if=boot_file of=/dev/hda4 ..When I boot up and select osx in GRUB, harddisk led keeps blinking as if there is a action but then nothing happens.

conclusion:

--I could boot deadmoo partition with any method up in the list. (directly from grub or chain0 in NTFS or reiserfs)

But JAS1048 doesn't boot with any.

--I can use JAS DVD passing rd=disk0s4 to darwin bootloader then boot JAS partition up easily.

But when I pass this from deadmoo darwin bootloader I got /sbin/launchd error.

--case of chain0 I got 'chain booting error' where it worked flawlessly with deadmoo.

Ideas:

--I started deadmoo in vmware. Using diskutility erased disk1s4(/dev/hda4 or (hd0,3) on real disk). I got a HFS+ partition.

Then started vmware deadmoo as IDE 0:0, phsycal partition (dev/hda4) as IDE 0:1 and a linux boot cd, and booted up with CD. Then from linux terminal I dd'ed hda to hdb4. I got a working physical copy of deadmoo which I could boot in vmware or from grub when the computer started.

So I got a 1:1 copy of deadmoo image in phsycal disk with its booting sector etc...therefore I could boot it up whenever I wanted.

But it looks like JAS DVD has some problems creating that boot sector on /dev/hda4. So when I try to boot it up it cannot find boot sector or other bootfiles in /dev/hda4.

When I boot up to darwin bootloader with JAS DVD and pass rd=disk0s4 it boots it up nicely.

I tried almost all kexts in the forum to get sound and graphics to work etc but since I have to boot from JAS DVD it looks like those kexts don't load correctly. I am trying to boot from my harddisk as my first priority.

Questions:

--So what is the difference ???

--How am I not getting /sbin/launchd error from JAS DVD but getting that error from deadmoo's darwin bootloader ?

It seems that when I boot from DVD it reads some essential files from DVD and then passing the control to mach_kernel in /dev/hda4.

--Is there a way to copy those essential files from DVD to physical partition to have 1048 boot up?

--Where does 1048 bootloader mess up and 1041 bootloader doesn't mess up?

PS: I am low on space in my harddisk so I cannot move any partition using partition software.

Hda partition table in MBR:

hd0,0 resiferfs --PRIMARY-- grub is here

hd0,1 ntfs --PRIMARY

hd0,2 EXTENDED --extended

hd0,3 AF/HFS+ --PROMOTED TO PRIMARY from EXTENDED partition --deadmoo doesn't complain anything !

hd0,4 NTFS --EXTENDED

hd0,5 SWAP --EXTENDED

hd0,6 reiserfs main --EXTENDED

hd0,7 fat32

any ideas?

VIAATA is working nicely as SATA. But it is disabled after every reboot.

Thanks for your info ''-f''. That makes it working.

Also got Sis 7012.

But the sound is not clear.

I have updated Itunes. Maybe becuase of that.

I saw an advice to upgrade to the latest kernel.

I will try that..

Got Nvidia 10.4.9 installer from Diabolik's site.

Works great with GeForce Go 7300 QE/CI.

But NVRAM is 64MB instead of 256MB which is not a problem for me.

My sis7012 plays great. Maybe your trouble is due to itunes...

Or the driver. I don't know which one you installed (there are 2 different drivers on page 3 of the thread) but try this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=3399

Thanks again,

Don't know what is wrong with mine.

I got the file from your link. I think it is the same file with mine. Uninstalled the old one and installed this one.

Rebooted. But it is still same. I can just hear the loud sounds of the song.

I mean where the sound level gets highest in the song, possibly bass sounds(low frequency).

Looking for a kernel update to 10.4.9

Maybe an update can help.

Hi !

Updated to 10.4.9/8.9.1 still no luck with the sound output.

I can get a crackling sound when I turn on the volume all the way up in VLC(400%) and all the way up in sound control panel. On normal volume conditions sound is not coming out.

Dox can you please confirm if you have the same sound chip with mine ?

I just want to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the hardware but there is a setup problem in the OSX.

I am thinking of a clean reinstall without any update.

1-What is your OSX version ?

2-Are chipset details same with mine ?

Mine are jas 10.4.8 and sis7012 with same id.

Sounds are good, imho you should try a clean installation of osx and drivers.

Updates aren't safe on hackintosh, till someone have tested them and found a fix (if needed).

  • 9 months later...

sorry to ressurect an old thread, but you guys are the closest I've come to making my Z92Km into a fully functional hackintosh. All that I am missing is the Video, and DiaboliK's site seems to be down. Can anyone PLEASE point me to a place that has the files or possibly email them to me? Thanks
