Sabi
i want to install os x on a PC im just wondering though if anyone here can claim they have the simplest and cheapest build. I dont care if you use integrated video, or if you have one 100gb hard drive, just want to know who's done it, with what, and how much! thanks alot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48635-what-is-the-cheapest-and-simplest-build/ Share on other sites
muxion
Hi Sabi, The info on which are best is contained in www.osx86project.org in the wiki. Choose the version of osx you have and look at the components under that version. Some motherboards, cpu chips, video cards, DVD burners, hard drives work nearly perfectly. Write those down for your osx version, then go to www.newegg.com, www.outpost.com, www.buy.com, etc and find out which are the cheapest for what you want to do. ASRock motherboards tend to be lower in price, older Pentium D or AMD chips are much less expensive. Use RAM recommended by the motherboard manufacturer. Intel boards with onboard GMA 900 and 950 usually give a smooth ride for video, but a LOT has been done with ATI and nVidia video as well. You may find the research in the forum and reading the wiki quite a bit of work. I sure did! I have several successful installs, and I still have to read all the time to try and keep up with the version changes and the new work great (and sharp) people post here to help us all. PS, a fast internet connection is nearly a must, these installs are 4+ Gb in size.
