urbanmac Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 Hi all, I've bought a few parts to build my own x86 Mac. First of let me say as I've been a Mac user for 15+ years I've never built a PC, but thought it looked fun and I wanted to learn. I purchased a Celeron D 2.5ghz (socket 478) processor and an Intel D865GLC motherboard both of these are in the wiki as working. I put the sytem all together in a nice new case and turned it on, but I dont get anything on screen, no bios nothing. All the fans spin up, the HD spins up, green light on the motherboard comes on but thats it, not even a beep! I think I've identified why though, my motherboard is an older revision than the one required for a Celeron D processor, therefore it does not work I've now ordered a ASrock P4DUAL-915GL, however will my processor or motherboard be damaged becuase of me trying to boot the incompatiable components?
