ghw9132
I recently installed 10.4.3 f1099 on a second partiton. After booting back into 10.4.1 i cannot mount disk images (device not configured), use sudo in terminal (must be setuid root). Cannot set startup disk, just beeps when i click restart. If i try to change permissions on a file from the get info window, i get this message: "You need to enter an administrator name and password to access this item, but the Finder cannot complete the process Either the Finder can't locate the item or the Finder isn't allowed to use the item. Perhaps this is because the Finder was copied or moved." I can't do much in 10.4.1 and can't boot back to 10.4.3! Anyone had this problem? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4841-lost-root-in-1041-after-1043-install/ Share on other sites
miranda363
yes I tried this and the 10.4.3 was virtually unusable. I think the problem was that after the install of 10.4.3 the computer settings werent configured and no user account was set up. ghw9132
Nevermind, problem solved. I booted off the DVD and used disk utility to repair permissions on my 10.4.1 volume (took about an hour). I'm back in 10.4.3 now, hopefully it won't do it again when i reboot into 10.4.1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4841-lost-root-in-1041-after-1043-install/#findComment-30869 Share on other sites
