ntsmkfob Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I have this problem when plugging in an external USB hard drive. I've tried the latest apple IOUSBFamily download and the GENUSBEHCI replacement to no avail. However, I have 2 identical 80gb 2.5" USB external drives, and the one formatted NTFS for XP backups never fails to start up correctly, while the one formatted HFS+ for OSX backups almost always fails to start up and issues the Having Trouble msgs in the system log. I'm going to reformat the OSX one with a small NTFS partition at the front and see if that gets round the problem.
