Windows RG Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Hello. I've heard that many people are having trouble with their Dell Inspiron 5100's not working properly. Well the cause is actually very strange. The topic is about those people getting stuck at the grey Apple Logo with no loading, in fact it stopps booting very early into the sequence with no kernel panics. these caould be your problem. 1. The RAM chips do not work together. 2. my OS X install will only use 1 RAM slot at a time so i can only use 1 RAM card so try taking one RAM card out and see if it boots. 3. Faulty RAM. These were the only problems i've found so far that can fix this but ill keep you posted. Although i still find it weird, the OS X install freezes at verifying the buffers which isnt even beginnig to load any files yet. its kinda strange. Good Luck.
