So now that i have osx installed and working, i want to know how i can connect it to the 2tb NAS we have.

The NAS is running Windows Server 2003 x64 with four 500gb IDE hard drives in RAID 5.

As you can imagine, i have alot of stuff on there that i want to be able to access, so how can i map that in osx?

OSX has Samba built in - have you tried a network share?

Patrick

I can see it in finder if i go to Network, i click on the workgroup that contains the NAS when i click on the NAS it asks me for my name and password, i input them, and i get the error:

The alias "Deadlynas" could not be opened because the original item cannot be found.

and i can delete alias, fix alias, or hit ok.

I dont know what to do at this point.

So i may have found the problem.

After much searching, i keep getting back to this microsoft help page. So i downloaded the UAM, and it doesnt work, looked at it alittle more, and turns out its only for PPC macs, and i can't find any updates to it.

So i'm back at the begining again, any suggestions?

  • 3 weeks later...

I have same problem as OP.

OS X(86) 10.4.8 JaS w/ Patch 1 & 2 SSE2.

I get error -50 if i connect to a server :: smb://x.x.x.x/share and I get an Alias cannot be found if I navigate.

Is there maybe some sort of networking package missing here?

Honestly, HELP! <3
