postaldave
Should I get an SATA or IDE Harddrive with the Asus P5LD2-VM Mobo? Why? SATA is Sooooo fast. my asus mobo is my first build with sata drives. it has two 320gig sata drives. 1.install is the same as ide 2.wire hookups are a ton better. (one little data cable instead of fat ide cable) 3.no jumpers to worry about. 4.speed, speed, speed. transfering 10 to 20 gig files took no time at all between drives. i had no idea how great SATA was until i used it. Sedna
SATA2. In RAID0. Top speed. Disk Test 84.09 Sequential 110.58 Uncached Write 248.66 152.67 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 214.06 121.12 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 45.35 13.27 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 184.24 92.60 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 67.84 Uncached Write 28.64 3.03 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 173.46 55.53 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 89.79 0.64 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 139.97 25.97 MB/sec [256K blocks] The only problem with RAID0 is that you cannot use it as your startup disk. At least I heard so. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47714-sata-or-ide-with-asus-p5ld2-vm-board/#findComment-341755 Share on other sites
