Hi all,

I've been trying to install OSX for a few days now with not too much sucess. I've managed to actually get into OSX a few times. I was having a problem with it freezing up after the apple screen, after installing common drivers but figured out that it was my wireless card, so I pulled that. The new problem I'm having is that eventually during boot, I get to a black screen with red and yellow lines going down it. There is HDD activity going on, that eventually stops, so it seems that there is something going on. I searched up and down on these forums, but havent had any success. Somebody even mentioned that they got past a few video problems by using a DVI connector, so I even tried that. I have come across a few threads stating that there is no support for anything below the X1X00 line of cards, is this what happens when a driver for that is installed?

Has anybody had similar problems, and if so, how was it fixed?

Even if there isnt a solution, if somebody could give me a few ideas, then it would be appreciated.

Specs:

AMD Athlon X2 3800+

Gigabyte K8U-939 Mobo

1gb DDR 400

80gb Seagate SATA

ATI X850 Pro 256mb.

Thanks so much in advance for any help. It is appreciated.

I did a little research, and found that its most likely a problem with my X850 and drivers for it, so I'm going to do a clean install and try to get by with installing as little in the way of optional packages as possible. My next goal, would be to get wireless working. My quesiton would be, how am i able to install indivudial drivers through OSX itself, or the terminal?

Thanks once again.
